The
Process
Jon begins the process by getting to know the client, and discussing
their ideas for the portrait that they have in mind. Together they
decide on the clothing to be worn, possible backgrounds, and any props necessary for the painting
before scheduling a photography session.
Jon's paintings often draw a combination of elements from different
photographs that he has taken, i.e., the smile from one, a hand gesture
from another, and perhaps a twinkle in the eyes that he sees. He creates
many small sketches and drawings to work out the composition and correct
anatomy. Sometimes he may borrow the clothing or props for a color match
when necessary.
The client will have the opportunity to view the work-in-progress on a
private website. He notes, that colors and clarity will vary do to
the website graphic images size and resolution settings.
